A futuristic procedural drama called C.R.I.S.P.R. is in the works at NBC and will be executive produced by Jennifer Lopez, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series will follow a scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and an FBI agent as they confront crimes in a world of gene editing gone awry.

Crimes investigated on the show could range from a genetic assassination attempt to framing an unborn baby for murder, THR learned, all while romance develops between the lead characters. As the title implies, the show will draw inspiration from the current burst of CRISPR-based gene editing research.

The script will be written by Anthony Cipriano, who will also executive produce the show.
